It’s Worthwhile
Who
would be a budgie breeder? Sometimes I often ask,
It’s
something of a challenge, not a quick and simple task,
For
the breeding season with it, woe and trouble brings
Of
French moult, feather pluckers, and Dam UNREADABLE Rings
Of
the youngster in the nest box, with the head of mighty size,
That
grows into a blasted mop right before your eyes.
Of
the pair you set to breed Grey greens, but only Blues came through,
And
the cock that wouldn’t mate the hen, that really made you spew.
Still
it’s great on the March weekend to see how far you’ve come,
Especially
in a class of 12 your cage is marked number one
To
show a bird you’ve bred yourself, months you’ve watched it grow,
And
win a first or special, it’s something most well know
But
to get there on that top bench,…….win the Purple and the Gold
You’ve
got all the Hobby can give you.
It’s well worth it be told.
