SHOW MANAGERS REPORT The Stan Watson Breeders Show produced excellent numbers with 300 entries being benched and with 35 tender birds creating much interest the hall was to capacity. Once again thank you to all the membership for a truly magnificent effort which resulted in a successful and busy show. Congratulations to M & K Murphy having 3 exhibits benched in the top seven. The Grand Champion was an outstanding budgie which would hold it’s own on any world stage. Congratulations to the Intermediate breeder Wayne Bandt and Novice breeders Ken & Janet Harris who continually bench outstanding birds. Of note was Ben Hale sneaking off with the Best Skyblue for the day. The awards were evenly spread around this year and congratulations to all the other award winners but I think everyone was a winner with the objectives of the BSSA being met to a high standard. With promotion and relegation the club has become more balanced with a more even competition and stimulation in all sections. Congratulations to Ken & Janet Harris and George England & Sons for progressing into Intermediate and Open next year. The tender sale concept has been welcomed with open arms and is creating a lot of interest and will continue with the next one being the Budgie Bash at the UBC Interclub Challenge on 28th October, 2017. These prices will be more realistic than some of the Victorian auctions this year. The busy time is finally coming to an end with the breeding season now is full swing in most parts of the State. The exhibits for this young bird show were a little down but I guess the pre selection for the Nationals is where the acknowledgement is recognised. The BSSA is hosting the Nest Feather Show on the 28th October 2017 so let’s keep hosting the trophy for another 12 months. Wayne Weidenhofer BSSA Show Manager |
